Ian graduated from Kindergarten on Sunday night with a fun filled evening including a play, songs, skits, and talent shows. The play was Jimmy and the Lie with Ian playing the lead role of Jimmy. It was a surprise for the parents so we couldn't practice at home, but he was sure he knew all of his lines and for the most part he did. It was fun to see him act and pretend with his fellow classmates in their costumes.
He had lots of lines and was really cute changing his voice and facial expressions for effect - especially when he knew an audience laugh was coming. All the kids were great and delivered their lines with confidence.
Following the play we watched a talent show where Ian showed off his break dancing skills with some of his friends, a few skits on acknowledging God's plans for your life and then the diplomas and a send off to the song "First Grade, First Grade" to the tune of "New York, New York."
It was an amazing evening and I was thrilled at what Mrs. Carpenter, Mrs. Koch and Ms. Rachel were able to develop, encourage and showcase in each of the children. I am praying now for the right teacher for Ian next year. They were mightily answered this past year.
