Christmas in November

The kids and I took part in the Kerrville Lighted Parade this year riding on the MOPS float. MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers and No Mother Alone is a MOPS motto. It encourages mothers of young children to find a support network to learn from and be uplifted by during a joyful but challenging season of life. I enjoy the meetings with topical speakers and fun activities. Plus it provides an extra network of people who can identify with you, support you and provide you with opportunities to do the same. I have enjoyed the last two years there and look forward to a couple more.

Primal Cuts

Chris was recently featured in the book Primal Cuts by Marissa Guggiana. The book interviews butchers all over the country working with interesting products and inventive techniques. As part of the publicity push Chris and Jesse Griffiths of Dai Due in Austin, also featured in the book, were invited to do a book signing/food demonstration in a Williams-Sonoma. Chris had a lot of fun hanging out with Jesse, a good customer, and came home with an enamelled Le Crueset pot and a big smile. Check out the book - there are lots of interesting stories on people doing what they love and some good recipes for people who like meat - really good meat.

Got Quail?

Diamond H Ranch held a ribbon cutting the other day as part of joining the Bandera Chamber of Commerce. We tagged along as Chris gave a tour and interview to a local reporter and the Chamber's representatives. It was a fun morning and resulted in a really nice article about the farm in the local paper. While the property owners nearby were a little wary of the farm reopening, Chris has worked hard to make the responsible fixes and right choices to ensure the farm is a good neighbor.



Later that weekend Chris and some employees served quail plates during the Hunter's Weekend festivities in town. They got to show off the new Diamond H Grill and showcase some of our products. Sounded like everyone enjoyed the food and the weekend.

Chris has put up lots of pictures giving a good vision of what the farm looks like and how it runs. We have had some great feedback on the taste and quality of our birds from individuals and local restaurants. Really encouraging for everyone involved.
We should hit Chris's first step goal of harvesting 10,000 birds a week in the next month or so. Things aren't slowing down at Diamond H.
