Ian started off first hitting the ground running in second grade. He was glad to see many of his friends and classmates from last year in his class this year as well. He is already excited for his Challenge Lab project on Oceans and the reading enrichment program sounds right up his alley.
Of course, art is still his favorite subject, but the fact that he gets to use the computer to find library books this year is a huge bonus. We are enjoying reading through the Little House series and he is filling in with the few remaining Roald Dahl's left unread

Nora started next with her two day Children's Day Out program. She was so excited to go back that when we arrived at "meet the teacher day" she kept telling me to leave her. She is a really independent little girl and really loves everything they do there and making friends. She has lots of familiar faces as well and is pleased to have "her own" school.
Garrett started last this year.
There was one day when Garrett was home alone and we took the opportunity to hit the zoo. We loved our day and I especially loved watching him read about the animals and tell me all of his observations. They have rearranged the snake house a bit and he was remembering where the old location of each snake had been and which ones were new - crazy memory on that kid. It was a fun pre-school celebration. He definitely needs to work in a zoo someday. I could totally picture him walking around in his khaki shorts and rubber boots spraying down monkey cages and chopping up cabbage, bottle feeding baby tigers, and separating endangered frog tadpoles.
He has had a great start to kindergarten and is enjoying his new class, though the everyday routine is already wearing a bit. He is at the same school Ian was for Kindergarten and Mrs. Carpenter and Mrs. Koch were happy to see him. Lots of friends are in the class with him so he had some buddies to start but told me he is quickly making new friends too.
