With Shelly and Dave here for the holiday weekend we did lots of activities.
We started out with tickets to the battle reenactment at the National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredricksburg. It was formerly called the Nimitz Museum because Admiral Nimitz grew up in Fredricksburg and the museum is housed in his old family home. It was like stepping into a history book with the scene in the background and the men in uniform. Each American soldier and Japanese soldier explained the gear he would have carried and demonstrated his weapon. At the conclusion they had a short reenactment of a battle on a south pacific island including a personnel carrier, grenades, bunker and flame thrower. You could feel the heat from the stands. The boys were interested and managed well enough - Nora just liked the loud gun fire and it was loud! The ear plugs were a must. We didn't get to walk through the museum because of the time it requires so we will have to save that for another time.

We did see a great art car parked on the street though. It had some really good bumper stickers and a driver to match it.
After that hot morning we enjoyed another swim out at the ranch.

Ian gave Dave his work out all afternoon.

We had fun shooting Ian's BB gun at coke cans and he even started practicing shooting in the prone position. He is a pretty good shot.
Everyone watched for bandits on the way home.

On the actual Fourth, we headed into town where there was a little festival and another reenactment. This time of a wild west shoot out that reportedly happened in front of the Schreiner Store in downtown Kerrville. The kids painted rocks at a craft booth, we all enjoyed some funnel cake and Dave got another workout.
