Winter

Winter finally arrived with force last week. I am used to a fleeting winter by now so to have almost five days of below freezing weather beginning with a wind storm that took a corner of our roof off and littered our yard with branches and ending with some flurries was quite a surprise.

The snow in the picture above looked like silver glitter falling from the sky.

We covered up all of the new plants we just put in last fall and winterized our exterior faucets. Things we have never done here before.

The water line we have running outside the house because of our foundation fiasco froze giving us only hot water in the kitchen and there was even a little layer of ice on the creek next to the dock.

Friday wasn't much of a snow day here, but all the highways in San Antonio were closed through noon with ice and snow covering them!

It has already warmed up significantly today, but there is talk of another cold front coming through next week so more opportunity to wear our Aran sweaters and have a continuous fire in the fireplace.

Come on snow...... I want to break out the sled!
