Nora wore her first ponytail yesterday! I am hoping we are coming to the end of our sheepdog phase. She actually let me brush her hair and do the rubber band all in one sitting. So mature.
I think it helps that our current favorite Dora episode includes a hairbrush that makes Dora's hair long and puts it up in a ponytail. My logical reasoning was definitely falling on deaf ears.
She talks so well it is hard to believe we aren't even to 2 and 1/2 yet. She wakes bright and bushy-tailed every morning with a big "moooommmmmaaaa" through the door. Loves jumping on the beds and coloring on herself. She insists on a kiss and hug from Ian each morning before he gets out of the car for school and is inconsolable if he forgets or even skimps a little. Then as we drive away she is a little mommy parrot with her "have a good day, do your best, I love you, see you later."
At night she requests "snuggles" and loves to be "upside down" with Chris.
She and Garrett are in a bit of a give and take these days. We can have full afternoons of fun and equal play or days on end of nitpicking and sharing issues.
When they do play well it is gorgeous and it warms my heart all the way through.
Still not a big dinner eater and would rather not even show up, much to my challenge.
Riding her tricycle is huge fun though and she especially loves it when the boys are out riding too.
She said her first joke the other day as I was making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. She came into the kitchen with the phone asking to call Shelly and Dave. In our conversation about waiting a minute until I was done making sandwiches she laughed and said, "Jelly and Dabe." We will be rhyming uncontrollably soon.
She counts in Spanish regularly these days and will run across the room to squash a cricket...not with our encouragement, but we haven't been able to stop her either. Rabbit and Pillow are her best friends and she plays pretend more and more each day.
She can't stand the sun in her eyes and has had 2 toenails fall off in the past week from hard abuse over the summer.
We are winning battles on the potty training front, but complete victory is still a ways off.
She loves her friends, Christina, Sean and Jackson.
Nora is definitely a rough and tumble little girl, but that's how we like them around here.
Can't wait to see her out on the soccer field.
