We had our first "Spring Break" last week and I really enjoyed the time with the kids. We had no solid plans so we enjoyed sleeping in, playing in the playroom and outside, having late lunches and movie night with Chris.
The weather was all over the place - 80 and sunny to "snow" on Saturday. (You had to look really close, but it was there.)
One of our best days was playing zoo! It has been a favorite of Garrett's for a long time and now that he has more animals and cage sets from Christmas everyone can help. The boys took great care to build cages and separate the animals by type or location. Ian brought in some Lego people to be the tourists and Nora managed playing without destroying it! Big step.
Another day we headed out to the ranch with some friends for some tadpole catching. The water was cold...ok frigid, but the kids got right in. After a picnic lunch the water warmed up and we even ended up getting sunburned. Everyone had a great time and we can't wait to do it again - with some sunblock!
We also did a big, long overdue cleaning in the boys' room. They didn't like it, but I enjoyed seeing how much they had grown since the fall in the try-on portion of the closet clean out. Ian seems to have out grown 'slim' pants and Garrett, I can safely say, will never be in 'slim' pants. Plus he will more than likely overcome Ian in shoe size soon. We have been blessed by wonderful hand me downs so it was really a closet rotation and getting a great big bag together to hand on to another friend. We even hung up some pictures and the boys' name letters that had been shelved since we repainted. It looks great and they are both really pleased.
Finally, we learned that Nora loves popcorn and will lay in the bowl if allowed.
It was a great break, but for now we are back in the school saddle, riding until the middle of May. Looking forward to all the remaining school fun and summer!
